dLSoft is pleased to announce the launch of a new product for creating barcodes within Crystal Reports. Although primarily designed for use with Crystal Reports XI or later, some functions are applicable to older versions of Crystal Reports or the Report Designer Component included with earlier versions.
The product is available as a single computer licenced version for use with Windows 2000/XP/Vista, or as a server licenced version which includes servlets for both Windows and Java.
For details see http://www.dlsoft.com/products/BarcodesForCrystalReports.htm
The following members of the dBarcode Java Class family have been retired:
Code 39/93
Code 128
EAN/UPC
ITF
The functionality provided by those products is available in the dBarcode Java Class – 1D Universal.
A large number of updates have been released this month, some are minor bug fixes and are our fault, others are the result of changes announced by various standards bodies. As most products are affected by one or more of the changes we do not include the complete list of effected products here, and the dates of the latest release may be seen at
http://downloads.dlsoft.com/testware/versions.htm
a) All products supporting ISMN barcodes have been modified to adhere to the January 2008 ISMN barcode standard. [The new standard is mandatory by the end of 2008] We have taken the opportunity to remove support for the creation of old ISBN 10 barcodes (10 digit ISBN numbers will automatically be converted to ISBN-13 barcodes). The related ISSN barcodes may now be created from 8 digit ISSN numbers without requiring a sequence variant number.
b) All products supporting OneCode barcodes will now follow the 2007 revision for the barcode size [The revised standard is mandatory by the end of 2009]
c) All products supporting Datamatrix barcodes now include a setting to permit GS1-Datamatrix encodation without requiring a FNC1 character in the data stream.
d) All products supporting GS1-128 Application Identifiers specified in the GS1 General Specification 2007 are now handled automatically (without requiring the user to provide FNC1 characters to terminate variable length identifiers).
e) A bug in our QR Code algorithm which prevented symbols consisting of a single digit from being created correctly has been fixed!
f) A bug in our Databar algorithm which prevented the correct encoding of ISO 646 characters in Expanded-Stacked Databar symbols has been fixed.
Testware versions are available from our web site. Users of the earlier versions may upgrade under our normal terms.

A new product to handle GS1 Composite barcodes has been added to each of the dBarcode DLLs and dBarcode.NET families
We are also pleased to announce the release of Really Simple Barcode for Mac OS-X and Really Simple Barcode for Linux, which join the popular Really Simple Barcode for PC as low-end barcode creators for those platforms.
Testware versions are available from our web site. Users of the earlier versions may upgrade under our normal terms. Please note that the serial numbers for most products have changed with the new versions and users who have purchase since January 2007 may upgrade free of charge by e-mailing their existing serial to support@dLSoft.com and requesting a new serial number.
Our prices have been unchanged since April 2005 – and in fact most prices have not changed since 2000; unfortunately we have had to increase our prices to meet the increasing demands of the taxmen, power companies and employees. In general it is the developer licence versions that have increased in price, while some single-computer licence have decreased.
Our new price list is now available on the sales page of our website.
Most of our Windows products have received significant updates, including the addition of the new Infomail Barcode A to the 1D Universal products and the inclusion of the size information in files saved as PNG types. The .NET components have been updated to “AllowPartiallyTrustedCallers” in .NET-speak, and the Java classes have been updated to allow graphic file resolution to be specified. Really Simple Barcodes now allows barcode settings and label layouts to be saved into templates.
Testware versions are available from our web site. Users of the earlier versions may upgrade under our normal terms.
