1. Product updates & bug fixes

1.1 dBarcode.NET components

The Universal .NET component has had bugs in the Code 39 check digit and Telepen numeric stop bars fixed.

All .NET components are now Strong Name signed – in place of the Authenticode signature used previously.

Support topics for the .NET components are now being added to our knowledgebase at www.dlsoft.com/support/kbase.htm - although at present the only topic concerns using the components in Visual Studio 2002!

1.2 .NET components for CE starts beta program

dLSoft will be introducing a number of barcode components designed for the Compact Framework for Windows CE devices, see www.dlsoft.com/barcode_products/barcodes_in_windows_ce.htm

Beta versions are available at www.dlsoft.com/downloads

These products are for device manufacturers and are not intended for end-user installation.

1.3 All other dLSoft products resigned

All other dLSoft products have been resigned with our April 2004 Authenticode signature

Testware versions are available from our web site and retail prices are at http://www.dlsoft.com/services/data/pplist.htm  Users of the earlier versions may upgrade under our normal terms.

--------------------------------------

2. Recent product announcements (from April issue)

2.1  DataMatrix, Micro PDF417 and Planet barcode updates

All products supporting DataMatrix barcodes have been modified to accept upper ASCII characters (ie. > 128).

All products supporting Micro PDF417 have be updated to accept the industry standard Macro sequences [)>{RS}05{GS} and [)>{RS}06{GS} (where {RS} represents ASCII 30 and {GS} is ASCII 29). A Flag parameter has been introduced to enable automatic translation of {GS} to ASCII 29, etc.

All products supporting Planet barcodes have been updated to permit the use of all Planet ID codes.

2.2 dBarcode.NET components

The .NET components have also been modified to accept Unicode – although it should be noted that as most barcodes are designed for ASCII, the results obtained by scanning barcodes derived from multi-byte characters will depend on the receiver of the scan.

2.3  ODBC data sources

The ADO/ODBC connection system has been updated to ease connection to SQL databases.

The products affected by one or more of the above changes are:
