1. Product updates

Rather a lot of changes this month, but all for the best
of reasons.

a) All Barcode Fonts for Windows products and all the
Barcode Font Kits have been updated to include a DLL 
and a new Active-X control which should simplify the 
use of fonts within many development environments - 
including VB and Access. The updated products are 
provided with VB, Delphi and Access examples, and 
additional examples are downloadable from our support 
site.

The control is also included in the dFont Developer's kit, 
which is required for customers who wish to redistribute 
the DLL or OCX contained in the kit or in the individual 
Barcode Fonts for Windows font products.  

The following Barcode Fonts for Windows products are effected:

Code 39 with Extended (Full ASCII) Code 39
Code 93 with Extended (Full ASCII) Code 93
Code 128 (including EAN128)
Code 11
Code B
Codabar
EAN/UPC
Interleaved 2 of 5
MSI/Plessey
Telepen (Full ASCII)
clocked codes
PostNet (including FIM)
Royal Mail (RM4SCC)

along with the following Barcode Font Kits:
Aztec Font Kit
DataMatrix Font Kit
PDF417 Font Kit
Universal Barcode Font Kit

The version numbers of all font products has been updated 
to reflect this change.


b) The dBarcode-32 Developers Kit and 
the dBarcode-2D Developers kit 
have had their OCX components upgraded to support 
data-binding, so that the components can now take 
data automatically from a database field.

The version numbers of all these products has been updated 
to reflect this change.


c) The following products were updated on June 2nd 2001:

Active Barcode Component
dLabel-32
dIndex-32
dBarcode-2000
dBarcode-32
dBarcode-32 Developers Kit
dBarcode-2D Developers Kit

These products were updated to improve the image created 
when a single upper bearer bar is used on barcodes - following 
several request from users. Bearer bars may now extend into
the light margins.


d) All products which produce PDF417 barcodes were also
updated to include a minor bug-fix in our PDF algorithm which 
caused a single binary character in a alphanumeric string to 
be incorrectly encoded. In addition to the product mentioned 
above, this also includes Active-2D Barcode Component.


e) Samples showing how the dbarcode-32 Developers Kit and 
dBarcode-2D Developers kit may be used with Crystal Reports 
Design Component are now available on our support site at

 and described on our product recommendation page:

This is a significant change because of the many users of Crystal 
Reports and because previously we were only able to recommend 
font products for use with Crystal Reports.


Testware copies of all products are available from our web site, 
and users of previous versions may upgrade under our normal terms.
