dLSoft Newsletter - January 1999 Contents dBarcode-32 DK update dBarcode-32 DK and dBarcode-2D DK latest builds dLabel-32 and dLabel-2D updates Internet sites -------------------------------------- 1. dBarcode-32 DK update. dBarcode-32 Developers Kit. A new version of the dBarcode-32 Developers kit has been released (version 5.01). This adds GIF image file creation to the abilities of the multi-user version, and permits Server-side barcode image creation for web sites. See the demonstration on our web site. A sample Visual Basic 6 project which utilises the technique to generate an ASP is now available from the support page of our web site. Note that GIF file creation may require an additional licence from Unisys Corporation for the use of LWZ-GIF technology. Users who purchased multi-user licences for dBarcode-32 DK after July 1st 1998 may upgrade free of charge and should e-mail us with their licence code number to receive a replacement product. -------------------------------------- 2. dBarcode-32 DK and dBarcode-2D DK latest builds The latest builds of these two kits have been created using the new Microsoft Visual Studio version 6. Unfortunately we ran into problems when the first release of the new kits were installed onto systems which had older versions of some Microsoft libraries (MFC42.DLL and MSVCRT.DLL). The installation halted with the message "error in Move data - 119". Because of this we have had to remove the automatic registration of the kits OCX components during installation. The OCXs may now need to be registered with the host system manually (using REGSVR32). Users who have experience this problem and been unable to install version 5.01 may wish to download the latest build, or to read the application note on the support page of our web site - which provides an alternative workaround. -------------------------------------- 3. dLabel-32 and dLabel-2D updates Version 4.23 of each of these products is now available. These enable marked records to be exported from databases correctly. Users who purchased any of the above products after July 1st 1998 should find that their licence files are still functional. (if not please e-mail us with your existing licence code or original order date and we will send you new codes). -------------------------------------- 4. Internet sites As a result of the slow response from our sites there have been a few changes. In particular we now have a fast US site, which apparently gives a faster response from Europe than our UK site!! Our web sites are now: WWW.DLSOFT.COM (UK site) and BARCODE.DLSOFT.COM (US site) and our ftp sites The dLSoft ftp download sites are FTPUS.DLSOFT.COM/ and FTPUK.DLSOFT.COM/ The former should give the fastest response!! ------------------------------------ End To be removed from the mailing list at any time just e-mail to IMAILSRV@DLSOFT.COM with the message UNSUBSCRIBE DLNEWS your_email_address as the message body.
